An update on the Zo-zo (my new nickname for her): she goes for surgery tomorrow to amputate her tail. The vet does not think it is repairable permanently, and I can't have blood all over the house on a regular basis! So I will have to short tails around the house (Cairo is a boxer, who of course had her tail docked at birth). From what I have read and seen, it is healthier for these type of dogs to have their tails docked. They risk breakage and infection. I've always been against any type of "mutilation," but I'm starting to agree with the docking procedure when dogs are very young. This has been a learning experience.
