The Road to Hell....

One of my favorite hackneyed expressions is "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." It is especially applicable today, in a world where we want out intentions to mean more than the results of our actions. A recent posting comment got me thinking about this, as I often tire of people's excuses. "I didn't mean it that way - you took it that way." Regardless of how you may intend things, how it is perceived is also part of the equation. That is not to say you can possibly be aware of any and all offense you may cause when you make a statement. But acknowledging that you played a part is a necessity to civilized discourse and relationships.
