More on Porn

Here is another interesting article regarding porn abuse. Apparently Congress has been approached to appropriate funding for "porn addiction" research. They are comparing it to heroin addiction, and claiming the brain activity mirrors such drug addictions. I can't say I know which side of the fence to sit on this one. As a wife of a husband who had a "porn addiction," it did not take me long to realize that not only did he not want to give it up, he could not - at least not on his own. For those who many not have read my older posts - I'm honestly not sure how much I've mentioned about my previous marriage - I was married to a man significantly older than me. So he was giving up a nubile, young wife to sit in front of a computer screen - to the point he could not function normally. So I would definitely tend to lean towards believing it can be an "addiction." The feelings it promotes, the hormones it drives, the highs the user receives....an addiction might be the best term. Then again, if you steer clear of the temptation in the first place, and only engage in porn usage on occasion, would we even need to worry about the problem in the first place? Of course, the same argument could be made for alcohol, smoking, drugs, etc. I don't know....we live in a strange world.
