Being close to the Susquehanna, the Capitol city of Harrisburg, PA, gets hit with flooding with some regularity. The last time we had a serious flood, I was not in the area, but returned not long after to see the devastation. This time, however, with our "friend" Ivan at the helm, it was shocking. Our highway signs were nearly in the water. A whole area of the city was under water, and the entire city was evacuated. I live far enough away that I was not personally affected, but I work in the city and was affected by it. It is amazing to see the power of Mother Nature. We think we have so much control over the planet and its environment, when in reality, we are at her mercy. There was nothing that we could do to prevent this - all we could do was run and hope for the best.
