Freedom Of Popular Speech

This whole swift-boat-veterans-for-truth situation is getting ridiculous. Today's New York Times article talks about how Kerry and his minions are demanding that the ads "come down." Excuse me, but I thought we had the right to free speech? No where in the ad does it suggest that the Republicans are behind, merely these swift boat veterans. So why should the President be in any way responsible for an ad his political party did not put together or sanction. Beyond that, these folks paid for their air time, they have a right to say what they want. It is okay for countless Democrats, including celebrities, musicians, and news personalities, to slam our President at every turn, but the minute something comes out again Kerry, he goes crying to the President? Do these Democrat voters hear this guy? Is this the wimp you want for President, when he can't even handle his opposition himself? They have made fun of Bush for supposedly running to Cheney to handle difficult situations (this still baffles me as I have never seen any ground for the joke) yet they want to elect a man who runs to the head of the OPPOSITE party to handle some petty disputes? This has got to be one of the worst political sideshows our election process has seen.
